Common questions

Court marriage checklist FAQ.

Does this checklist guarantee that the court will accept the application?

No. It is a general preparation checklist. The concerned district court reviews the application, documents, and circumstances.

Is ward marriage registration the same as court marriage?

No. Registration of an existing marriage at the local ward office is different from marriage by registration before the concerned district court.

What if one partner was previously divorced?

The relevant divorce document should be prepared. A foreign partner may also need a single or divorce status recommendation from the relevant home-country authority.

Does a foreign partner need documents from their home country?

The approved Wakil Adda guide includes a no-objection or status document and the original and translated home-country marriage law with notarisation.
